The time has come again where we get to dress up in our best White Sunday clothes and spread the gospel through song and dance to all our families and friends.
White Sunday is celebrated throughout the pasefika community annually every October and has many benefits for our young children. It’s a connection to our Samoan culture and spirituality helping with our fa’asamoa and learning about God from a young age. It’s also important for our tamaiti to participate and take part in performances as it helps to build confidence and encourages them to develop their own unique voice. Our Aukilani Kids Philosophy states “Every child is a unique individual…” and they are indeed.
As a Christian, Samoan-English Bilingual Aoga, we are happy to celebrate White Sunday together with all our families and friends in Samoa and Aotearoa.
White Sunday is a special time for our tamaiti, it’s a day dedicated to them and usually children are provided treats after their stellar performances.
Our tamaiti put on a show this morning and it was amazing! We were able to invite families to come on site and watch our performance this year as it was restricted due to Covid last year.
We worked hard throughout the last couple of weeks to learn our tauloto (memory verse) and practice our songs. A lot of hard work goes into planning White Sunday, and we have amazing teachers and staff to thank for this.
Check out our performance below.
As we wrap up our White Sunday here at Aukilani Kids, many are busy preparing for their church White Sunday this week. May you all have a Blessed Sunday and enjoy the show.
